#Baghdad_Women_Association Listening and consulting Center in Dohuk held an awareness session on psychological first aid provided by the center's lawyer, Jihan Hussain, as part of a series of voluntary awareness sessions to complement the activities of the project "Strengthening the resilience of Syrian women and girls and host communities in Iraq", with the support of UN Women and the European Trust Fund “MADAD” . started on 22 July 2019 extended for three days.
The session targeted 14 women and girls from the village of Seiji to identify women and girls in psychological first aid methods according to the Sphere approach adopted by the IASC to be used in their daily lives. The guide was developed for those in a position to help Persons who have been subjected to traumatic events and to support individuals in ways that take into account their dignity, culture and abilities.
The outcomes of the session were to raise awareness about the concept of psychological first aid and its principles, citing factual examples of emergency situations and incidents faced by women in their daily lives and how to deal with these events to avoid their negative impact on the psychological state.
